Focus and Scope
The Annals of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), appearing quarterly welcomes the submission of original contributions in all topics of biomedical sciences. Submission of a manuscript for publication in this journal implies that it has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The journal aims to publish articles and scholarly work in order to promote knowledge and it's practical application to alleviate sufferings of humankind.
Peer Review Process
The Annals, an official publication of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), accept high-quality research work, original articles and scientific reports for consideration for publication. The articles should be dealing with contemporary scientific work in biomedical sciences and areÂ judged byÂ noveltyÂ of concept, originality, impact on public health and should haveÂ substantialÂ contribution to existing knowledge in the field. The review articles are by invitation only and based on theme conforming to the mandate of the Academy and are published as special issues.Â
All the manuscript submitted to theÂ AnnalsÂ receives individual identification code and would initially be reviewed by the Emeritus Editor for suitability for publication. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious scientific or technical flaws, or lack of a significant message are returned back before proceeding for formal peer-review. Manuscripts found suitable for publication are sent to two or more expert reviewers who are the Fellows of the Academy for peer-review.
The journal follows aÂ double-blind reviewÂ process, wherein the reviewers and authors are unaware of each otherâ€™s identity. After receiving the reviewerâ€™s report/comments, the report will be communicated to the authors for possible corrections. Authors will be directed to submit revised manuscript within the time limit, along withÂ a point by point response to reviewersâ€™ comments. We ensure speedy publication of the submitted articles and target to finish the initial review process within 4-6 weeks. However, this time period can change depending upon the quality of the manuscript submitted, reviewerâ€™s response and time taken by the authors to submit the revised manuscript.Â
The AnnalsÂ does not charge any fees for publication from the authors.

Review articles will be featured only by invitation. In the case of a multiauthor
submission, the contribution of each author must be clearly stated. The
authors must also declare conflict of interest, if any.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
The Annals is an official publication of the National academy of Medical Sciences (India) with editorial office at New Delhi.
The journal does not charge any fees from author/s for processing for publication.

Sources of Support
New Editorial Board constituted by the Council of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) and functioning with effect from January 2015.
Issues are also being published online from 2013 (eISSN: 2454-5635) and efforts are being made to make past issues also available online in phased manner.
